General Information
What is the WBD Friends & Family 5K & Trot?
The WBD Friends & Family 5K & Trot, brought to you by Fit Nation, is a family-friendly event and race in Atlanta. Benefits-eligible colleagues can invite up to (3) three guests. The Fit Nation program was designed to encourage employees to be(come) more active and lead a healthier lifestyle.
Who can attend WBD Friends & Family 5K & Trot?
WBD benefits-eligible employees and up to three (3) of their guests. Contractors and interns may attend as a guest of a benefits-eligible employee. The 5K is open to all ages, but the Trot is only available to participants 12 years of age or younger. Course distance for the Trot is slightly less than 1K.
What is the age limit?
This event is open to all ages, but you must be 12 years old or younger to participate in the Trot. All children ages 2 years or older will require registration. Children 5 years old and younger must be accompanied by a guardian. Children 5 years old and older may run alone based on discretion of their parent/guardian.
Does a parent/guardian have to run with their kids during the Trot?
Children age 5 and younger must be accompanied by a guardian. Children older than 5 can run alone based on the discretion of their parent or guardian.
Can I bring a stroller?
Yes.
What time is the event?
Bib pick-up begins at 7:30 am (look for directional signs).
The Trot will start at 8:30 am and the 5K is at 9:00 am.
What is the Event Schedule?
7:30 am Race number/bib pick-up and bag check opens
8:15 am Race warm-up
8:30 am Trot start (ages 12 & under)
8:45 am Group photo
9:00 am 5K start
10:30 am Awards
11:00 am Bag check closes, event concludes
Do I need my WBD ID badge for the event?
No, but an electronic or printed copy of your email confirmation or your picture ID is required to pick up your race number/bib on event day.
Can I bring my pets to the event?
Seeing-eye dogs and other service animals are permitted. Otherwise, your fur-babies are not allowed.
When is the awards ceremony and what awards will be given?
Around 10:30am. Awards will be given to the top overall female and male finisher in the following age categories:
Overall and in the following age categories: 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-60; 60-64; 65 & over. Please Note: All race results, as well as ages, will be posted.
Will we receive t-shirts for the event?
No, but all participants will earn a finisher medal.
I’m not a runner. Can I walk in the event?
Yes! You can choose to run, walk or skip. Walkers should line-up behind the runners at start of race, and remain on the right-side of the course (so runners can past on your left).
Will there be a bag check at the event?
Yes, but please do not bring any valuables with you. We encourage you to bring your confirmation (printed or digital) only.
Registration
Is registration required to attend?
Yes, all employees and their guests must be registered to attend. To register, visit www.WBD5K.com. Registration deadline is 11:59pm EST on Wednesday, March 26.
I’m a new employee but I’m not in Workday yet and want to register. How do I do that?
Please send an e-mail to fitnation@wbd.com with your name, work e-mail address, start date and Employee ID number. Upon verification that you are a benefits-eligible employee, we will provide further instructions to help you register.
I’m not a benefits-eligible employee. Can I still attend?
Yes, but you’ll need to be registered as a guest of a benefits-eligible employee.
How do I register a guest?
You can invite up to 3 guests to participate for FREE! After you register for the event, you will receive a confirmation email from info@wbd5k.com within 24 hours with your 3 complimentary guest codes, which can be used for guest registration.
Can I register as a walker and be timed so I receive my results post race?
Anyone who registers as a walker is free to enjoy the entire course at their own pace, but you will not be timed and results will not be provided post race.
How do I make changes to my registration and/or my guest names?
If you need to change from the 5K to the Trot or vice versa, you can do so online at www.wbd5k.com. You will need your employee ID number or guest code to access the site. For all other inquiries, including changing a guest name, please contact info@wbd5k.com.
I lost my confirmation email—what do I do?
Please email info@wbd5k.com with your full name, employee ID number (with preceding zeros, as applicable) from your work e-mail address. Follow the same instructions if you’ve misplaced your complementary guest code(s); upon verification, three new codes will be sent to your work e-mail (or guest email account) account within 3-business days.
I am scheduled to work during the event. Can my guest still attend?
Yes. They’ll need to bring their electronic/printed confirmation statement or picture ID to enter the event and pick-up their race bib.
Will you allow substitutions?
In the event you are unable to participate on race day, your guest may still attend the event. You cannot let someone else use your employee race number (your guests will need to register individually). However, if your guest registers for the event and is unable to attend, they may give their race number to another guest of your choice. Your new guest should bring their electronic/printed confirmation statement or picture ID to race day in order to pick up their race bib and s/he will need to sign a waiver onsite before participating.
Parking & Transportation
When entering the Pinnacle Lot parking deck, you will need to take a ticket. You can enter at anytime. To exit, parking is automatically free for the first two hours you park. The gates will be open from 9:00am to 11:00am so no payment will be required. After 11:00am, you will need to purchase parking upon exit. View event location & directions here.
Food & Drink
Will there be water stations on the course?
Yes. Water will be available halfway through the course and at the finish line.
Will there be food at the event?
Yes. We’ll have hot chocolate, coffee and water before and after the event and breakfast after the race.
Safety & Security
What happens if there is a medical emergency (i.e. my child is stung by a bee and he/she is allergic)?
There will be medical personnel onsite in case of a medical emergency.
What type of security will be at the event?
The Event Venue and WBD security team will be onsite to monitor the event.
Rain plan
What if the weather forecast calls for rain?
The event will take place rain or shine. If there is forecast for severe weather, any change in plans will be e-mailed to registered participants.
